Noman Cole Trail (Rt 1 to Old Colchester Rd) Worktrip March 2005
and O
pening Ceremony June 2005

With the assistance of the managers at the Noman Cole Water Treatment Plant in Lorton, Potomac Heritage Trail Assn volunteers (including FTAS-ers) helped clear a new 1-mile trail (proposed as part of the Potomac Heritage Nat. Scenic Trail). It goes through several acres of
scenic woods. FTAS' Ed Pickens led an effort to build two 12-foot bridges. Trail enthusiasts and supporters returned on June 15, 2005 for the grand-opening of the new section of trail.

Directions: Route 1 at Ft Belvoir go south on Old Colchester Road, look for trail head on right (if you see the water plant you've gone too far). Follow the turquoise blazes. This section will soon be linked with the Laurel Hill Greenway via the Lorton VRE station.

See what else FTAS has been up to!
