Fairfax Trails and Streams will meet on March 1, 2012, at 7:30 pm at the McLean Community Center, Swinson Room, at 1234 Ingleside Ave., McLean (a new site). Joining us is Liz Cronauer, Trail Program Manager for the Fairfax County Park Authority. She will give us an update on Fairfax Trail projects, show a draft sign to mark Pimmit Run trailheads, and answer our questions. Also, Debbie Spiliotopoulos, from the Northern VA Regional Commission, will join us, to discuss their recently completed Gap Analysis for the Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail, and next steps.
URGENT—a new bill in Congress would eliminate Transportation Enhancement funding for trails. This funding built much of the Cross County Trail and many local trails. The Rails to Trails Conservancy is leading this pro-trail effort. Please visit their website for more details; you can express support for this source of funding.
